What are the treatment options for heart failure?
Patients suffering from heart failure should be happy to know that plenty of different treatments are available. Your doctor may suggest beginning treatment with medication and some changes to your overall lifestyle. Important medications for treating heart failure include digoxin, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and heart pump medication. Should this fail to help, surgery may be required. Bypass surgery routes blood around the blocked arteries; heart valve surgery will direct the flow of blood through the heart, repairing and replacing valves along the way; and infarct exclusion surgery will remove an aneurysm formed from a heart attack in the left ventricle. Your doctor will discuss the possibilities with you and determine which treatment may work the best for your needs.
