How Long Does a Pacemaker Last?
Pacemakers, which are surgically implanted just below the collarbone, typically lasts 5-10 years. The pacemaker’s longevity depends on numerous factors, including include how the device is programmed, how much work it has to perform and how much energy it uses.
Since using a pacemaker can significantly increase one’s lifespan, the average patient may need to have the device repaired or replaced several times over the course of many years.
