How do I control stress-induced weight gain?

Everyone can agree that stress is quite bad for a healthy lifestyle. Stress often causes headaches, muscle tension, sleep disturbances, depression, and even weight gain if not managed correctly. A high level of stress can be a direct cause for the hormone cortisol appearing in our system, which causes cravings for junk food and fatty foods – both of which lead to the accumulation of belly fat.
To control stress-induced weight gain, one must choose their fats wisely. Healthy fats, such as those found in olive oil or avocados, are perfect for the system and increase your metabolic rate. Adjusting meal proportions can often help burn more calories – swapping out brown rice for white rice, adding mixed veggies instead of potato skins, etc. It does take some work and self-control to limit and control weight gain caused by stress. A pattern will form over time, so just stick with it and build a healthy lifestyle.
